The event was a favourite from 2019 and we are so thankful to the NARIMS committee for bringing us on board and working together as a dedicated team to produce an event that wowed, transformed and inspired 1000 risk management professionals at the Welcome Reception of RIMS Canada‘s annual conference. CELEBRATE RIMSFest – THE NIGHT. TRANSFORMED.
was the lavish opening party kicking off Canada’s 2019 Risk & Insurance Management Society Conference. Inspired by the conference theme TRANSFORM and Edmonton’s reputation for being Canada’s festival city, RIMSFest brought together nearly 1000 risk management innovators and practitioners to celebrate and connect in a digital arts and entertainment environment for a transformative event experience.
As the preeminent organization dedicated to promoting the profession of risk management, RIMS is a global not-for-profit organization representing more than 3,500 industrial, service, nonprofit, charitable and government entities throughout the world with a network of over 10,000 members. It is the second largest annual risk management conference in the world and delivers a diverse range of educational sessions facilitated by risk management innovators, disrupters and practitioners.
Our team was selected by NARIMS (RIMS Northern Alberta Chapter) to work with the volunteer board to produce the 2019 evening welcome reception for the conference. We were tasked with consulting on venue options and subsequently plan, design and manage the production of the event to create a dynamic and unforgettable guest experience with maximum impact while demonstrating RIMS core values.
Inspired by the conference theme TRANSFORM and Edmonton’s reputation for being Canada’s Festival City, we created RIMSFest 2019 – THE NIGHT. TRANSFORMED. This lavish and interactive icebreaker brought together nearly 1000 risk management professionals from Canada and abroad for a chance to network, celebrate, connect and become inspired to transform. The event experience featured 2 major themes:
- TRANSFORM – The need to keep pace with rapidly evolving communication platforms and information technologies requires industry professionals to always be prepared for change. The theme of transformative change was captured at the event by blending traditional arts with the latest in digital entertainment and design to disrupt expectations and stimulate new perspectives.
- FESTIVAL CITY – Showcasing Edmonton as a vibrant northern urban centre and one of Canada’s sunniest cities, guests could experience the city’s energy in summer-time and how snowfall transforms the city in winter-time. No matter the season, Edmonton is made for exploring.
The combination of interactive installations, themed culinary experiences, over 20 remarkable entertainers, numerous sponsored brand activations and a custom produced 10-minute high-energy performance called RIMSMoment resulted in an explosive and immersive event experience combining traditional arts with advanced technology elements. The strategy of selling sponsorship opportunities and implementing planning efficiencies created an elevated event experience for guests and nearly doubled attendance from the previous year’s event; a great accomplishment for RIMS.
