Strategic Goals

ACE members celebrate industry, group, and individual excellence year-round, formally acknowledged at the Annual ACE Awards gala – the sole advertising creative award show in Edmonton. Every year, they receive hundreds of entries from the city’s best. ACE award and Award of Distinction winners are determined by a group of expert judges looking for creative and innovative pieces that could compete on a national level. The result is a bold recognition of the outstanding work of the Edmonton industry.

Key Event Objectives

  • Transforming the JW Marriott ballroom into a FLEX gym while maintaining the class of an awards gala evening and the idea that when faced with challenges, we don’t quit. We get to work and try to figure out an answer. Reminding people that their work isn’t just seen. It pays off!
  • An interactive evening and engaging program incorporating an awards show with over 50 awards.
  • An exclusive and creative dining experience celebrating Edmonton’s best in the Advertising industry.

The Experience

Event Concept

The idea for the event, created by Brandish, was that we were going to parody the gym/strength training world by pairing ad industry visuals with images of strength, reminding people that all their hard work isn’t just seen. It pays off.

Event Highlights

  • Production lighting—through mapping, colour-changing effects, and moving gobos—the room was transformed to feel like a colourful, high-energy gym environment.
  • A giant barbell prop became both the stage’s focal point and a perfect comedic photo op for award-winner moments.
  • Emcee Ryan Jespersen kept the energy up with lively FLEX breaks throughout the program.
  • An ACE on Display monitor provided guests with an opportunity to look at all the awards submissions.
  • The night celebrated industry creativity with a seamless presentation of more than 50 awards.
  • DJ Thomas Culture kept the after-party alive with iconic hits from the ’90s and 2000s—tracks everyone knows and can’t resist dancing to.
