This year, Sorrentino’s celebrated their 32nd Annual Garlic Fest. Among the Garlic Festival events, their featured signature charity event — GARLIC STOMP — has become an Edmonton tradition.

We had the pleasure of working with the Sorrentino’s family again in 2025 for the bi-annual Garlic Stomp. This year was all about sealing the deal for the build of Alberta Lung’s Breathing Space and celebrating in true Italian style!

Strategic Goals
Funds raised from this charity evening event went towards a new Breathing Space facility. Alberta Lung’s Breathing Space will be the first facility of its kind in Canada, dedicated to providing lung transplant patients and their families a safe haven for proper recovery, medical care and assistance. The event encouraged the community to come out and help Albertan’s with lung disease.
Key Event Objectives
- Deliver an exclusive dining experience for 600+ guests featuring exceptional culinary offerings.
- Transform the Alberta Ballroom into a vibrant Italian dining celebration.
- Develop an interactive, engaging stage program with meaningful entertainment that clearly reinforces the “why we are here” message through patient stories and fundraising appeals.
- Find ways to help close the final fundraising gap for the Breathing Space.
- Highlight sponsors throughout the program and within key event activations.
- Executing the balloon pop with 30 volunteers and 500 balloons to perfection!
The Experience
Event Concept
We created an experience that whisked guests away to Italy, blending rich Italian flavours, a cozy sunset dinner, and genuine familial hospitality into a beautifully relaxed setting.
Event Highlights
- A custom designed Peroni Beer sponsor activation including a stunning photo backdrop branded to both the Garlic Stomp and Peroni.
- Give-away centrepieces that were wood branded boxes filled with produce from the Italian Centre Shop (dinner sponsor).
- The stage backdrop was a custom-built set design that resembled the look of a distressed wall from an Italian countryside house, including an LED wall section with changing content throughout the evening: from romantic Italian landscapes during dinner to garlics falling from a starry sky during the intermission and dance.
- This year we switched things up with having two Garlic Queens: Global News anchors Ciara Yaschuk and Lisa MacGregor
- Heart-warming stories from lung patients were shared in a moment that truly resonated how funds would help bring a breath of fresh air to those in need
- Our Emcee and auctioneer for the evening, Danny Hooper, was able to “seal the deal” in Sorrentino’s fundraising goals for the evening.
- Dancing the night away with Uptown playing live for the after-party dance.
